History

This is the story of the birth of our family cabin known as Cloud Nine as told by RC.

RC and Ruth would travel to Colorado every year to visit Ruth’s family in Trinidad. On one of these visits they had been fishing and staying up at Monument Lake with Ruth’s sister Minnie. As they were driving back to Trinidad RC saw a “land for sale” sign on the side of the road. RC told Ruth and Minnie that he needed to stop at the little store at Picketwire and get an ice cream. He went inside and asked a gentleman about the sign that was out by the road. The man inside said that he had two lots left and took them over to view the remaining lots. RC bought both lots that next month.

The cabin was built in the early 70’s by the Patrick family and friends. This began the journey of family and friends making their way to Cloud Nine each year with new generations to follow. Ruth passed away in 1977 with the wish that Cloud Nine remain in the family for the enjoyment of family and friends for years to come.
